Project Manager

Be the client's main point of contact and lead projects from plan to launch.

About the role

You'll sit between our clients and our engineers and designers, taking projects from planning and requirements through to launch. You'll clarify what clients need and balance quality, schedule and budget to get projects over the line.

What you'll do

  • Client interviews and requirements definition
  • Preparing estimates and proposals, and negotiating terms
  • Building the WBS and managing progress, issues and risks
  • Coordinating engineers and designers and managing the quality of deliverables
  • Bridging communication between clients in Japan and Korea and the development team
  • Proposing improvements after launch

Requirements

  • 3+ years of managing or directing web or app development projects
  • Requirements, estimates and proposals in contract development
  • Managing several projects at once
  • Negotiating budget, schedule and scope with clients
  • Enough understanding of web technology, APIs and cloud architecture to discuss them with engineers
  • Japanese at JLPT N1 level or above, plus business-level Korean or English
  • Able to work flexibly across Japan, Korea and US time zones, and to help when urgent issues come up
  • Uses generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or GitHub Copilot in everyday work
  • At least one year of experience working fully remotely
  • Comfortable working asynchronously and in writing, in tools like Slack and Notion
  • Able to sign a contractor or employment agreement with a US company from your country of residence

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience as an engineer or designer
  • Experience as a bridge between Japan and Korea, or on offshore projects
  • Agile (Scrum) experience
  • Project management certification such as PMP
  • Projects in education or business systems
  • Using generative AI for requirements, meeting notes and documents
  • Business-level Japanese, Korean and English
